who am I?

Hi! My name is Gabe and I enjoy art direction and embracing curiosity. In fact, I’m SO curious that it got me stabbed once.

When I was 7, for some reason I really wanted to see if I could cut open an empty plastic gallon of Ocean’s spray cranberry juice with a knife. Long story short - it wasn’t. And I have the scar to prove it

I am an avid Dungeons & Dragons player. This is Yin - an elven knight with a 50-page long backstory (and still going) trying to save the world one sacrifice at a time by facing life and death in the name of a fictional deity and collaborating with others to make an immersive story for all of us to enjoy.

I am driven by curiosity, taking risks, and rolling the dice. I push myself to experience new things, like delving into new genres of music everyday (check out my Spotify in the header) or trying new things at a restaurant each time I go. As a young creative, I embrace my ability to take chances in order to make a name for myself and learn more about the world around me.

Years ago, I found my knack for visual acuity through taking photos, creating films, and making things in Photoshop. I thought that what I was making at the time would be “Portfolio ready,” but unless you’re looking for someone who’s proficient in using iMovie and videoleap to make projects, maybe it’s for the best that I lost those files.

Now, I'm a multifaceted creator and leader in a non-profit cultural organization called FACT@VCU.  Through this organization, I connect with my Filipino heritage while forwarding my passion as a creative. It truly is the best of both worlds.

I also am an intern at local music label Shockoe Records where I help push musicians closer to their goals and promote the label through video work.

On the way, I've created really cool fictional stories with my friends in Dungeons & Dragons, created some ads, and fell in love with making things using my vast imagination.
